I purchased a 2nd "Snow Flyer" for my daughter as she always wanted to use his, but he was unwilling to give it up.The steering is much better than most other sleds I've tried (except a select few that you sit on your belly), and the speeds it attains are thrilling for the kids but not terrifying for dad. One thing about these types of sleds is that you need a bit of snowpack as the runners get a bit caught up in light or scattered snow (as opposed to "flatbottom" sleds which can run on limited "pack"). 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful The perfect sled, By J. One steering wheel did break when dropped on cement (ugh!) but overall the quality seems very high - the wheel is the only issue after three years of use, and that's our fault. A couple of thick wooden dowels glued into the remaining handle works very well. These sleds aren't quite as fast as the plastic boards, so a longer steeper slope works well, and you really don't have to worry much about loss of control. I will point out that my boys are now 9 and 11 and prefer the plastic boards due to speed and lack of control (!), but if you sled near trees or obstacles, then the control these sleds give you is really valuable.
