The top front surface did not line up well with the bottom layer but was subtle enough for us (it stuck our almost an inch on the front corners) when you just want to play with it, it was overlooked. And yes, these are made in China according to the Mountain Boy website. We changed it from sled to wagon about four times in three months due to the changing conditions in the high mountains of New Mexico where we live. In that time the wagon was kept outside only semi sheltered. It also started splitting in two locations (one place on a glue seam and another on the grain of the wood). I'm starting to wonder if I paid too much for this toy. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: Way Over Priced for the Quality!, This review is from: Mountain Boy Grasshopper Convertible Sled/Wagon (Sports) I am highly disappointed in this toy. First, when changing it over from a sled to a wagon the pre drilled holes didn't match up. We had to redrill holes ourselves. Then the welds on the handle were in the wrong place and screw used to hold the wagon handle in place didn't work. We had to fix that too. Now one of the wheels keeps falling off because the locking nut is defective. I am so disappointed. These things are all fixable, but for the amount I paid for it, I would expect it to just be right. I don't buy things wanting to redrill holes and find replacement bolts and nuts at the hardware store. I just want it to work. 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful: ok, gorgeous but needed a little work., Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Mountain Boy Grasshopper Convertible Sled/Wagon (Sports) I want to buy US made anything as much as possible and as Sledworks's address is the cool town of Sliverton Colorado that clinched it for me - so sad to see "Made in China" on box, still hoping that box is wrong, maybe just wheels?Deck is beautiful but wheel frame is pretty rough hewn. Needed to chisel away at deck side to get space for one strut to find pre drilled hole. Also stiff to steer as metal on metal grinding and not smooth metal either, as well as top of steering bar scraping on that iconic deck when turning moderately - it's pretty enough that this disturbs you at first but gets that hip broken in and used look quickly. Easy enough to fix with some serious bending and insertion of nylon washers and lubricant between metal bars of steering mechanism [need longer bolts]. Daughter instantly attached right out the box though and insisted on 'helping' me with assembly etc. She now loves the sled as she 'made' it and can get in and out by herself easily... Read more |
