I picked this up at Walmart for $29.99. If I had to pay more I probably would not have purchased it.The product is pretty cool for a more defensive snowball fight as it takes time to get the snowballs into the machine and pull back the "slingshot". The slow loading factor makes it best placed in a snow bunker lobbing snowbombs at the others - most of the time you'll get a snowball going about 50-60 feet. It is tough to get one going 80 feet like the box said. The distance is impressive. The 3-snowball maker on the top is helpful in putting together an arsenal of snowballs during a snowball fight. It helps if the snow is wet. With soft snow the snowballs will come apart with the force of the "slingshot" mechanism. All in all this is recommended to someone who can take the time to practice using the machine. Anyone under 7 may have problems getting a good shot. We made... (Mocksville, North Carolina, United States) - See all my reviews = Durability: = Fun: = Educational: This review is from: Wham-O Arctic Force SnowBall Blaster (Toy) Help your children win the neighborhood arms race with what is basically a snowball slingshot. (My precocious 8-year-old asked me if it would work with rocks; I responded, probably, and if I ever catch him using it with rocks, he'll never see it again! It would probably also work with small water balloons.) In my experience it can fling a snowball 10 or 20 yards with ease and considerable accuracy, without straining the rubber tubing; however, it does require a strong pull, which younger children may have some difficulty with. The three snowball mold on top is quite useful for molding snowballs that will fit in the slingshot but is not a good place to store ready reloads because the recoil tends to pop out any snowballs left in it, even if you close the lid. The mold handle can be situated on either side, depending on the user's handedness or personal preference, by simply unscrewing it and switching it around. It comes with a nylon target that we haven't bothered to... If the snow isn't the right type, when you release the snowball it may break apart. Think of this gun as more of a catapult than gun....there is no precision aiming. Lastly, I have a 7 and 10 year old....neither one can pull it back far enough to launch it more than 10 or 15 yards. Also, as I said it is like a catapult, so you have to raise the front of the blaster up to get maximum distance and to keep the snowball on its holder. |
